All about the BHS
The Brooklin Horticultural Society is a volunteer organization founded in 1921 to provide a welcoming environment for all who enjoy creating attractive gardens for themselves and to help keep the public spaces of our community beautiful. Our website provides information on our activities and events, encourages guests and all members to attend our meetings, and provides useful gardening information for all who visit.
Our members come from all areas of the Brooklin/Whitby area. Over 100 members attend our monthly meetings with guest speakers. Member volunteers help organize our annual events such as the plant sale, spring and summer flower shows; they maintain our community garden projects, and tour outstanding gardens in and around Brooklin and Whitby. New gardeners are always welcome, whether they are beginners, long time enthusiasts, or Master Gardeners with expert knowledge to share. While the wider world is catching on to sustainability and green living, we've been sharing tips for 90 years on the basics that are now trendy. | Club Officers 2012The society would never be able to organize its work in the community, the monthly meetings and shows and other activities without the help of the many club officers, conveners and members of the board of directors.
